Don Gallegos

Picture
Don Gallegos joined a division of the National Tea Company right after college, where he learned a passion for customer service and sales.

In 1965 Don joined the King Soopers' family as a Grocery Buyer. With Lloyd King as his mentor, Don's passion for superior service and attention to customer's needs grew along with a deep regard for the people he encountered along the way. During his 43-year career, Don served in nearly every area of the supermarket industry; buying, merchandising, warehousing and store operations.

In 1979, Don was named Executive Vice-President of King Soopers, a position he held for three years. In 1982, he joined King Soopers' parent company, Dillon Companies, Inc. As Senior Vice President, he served over five supermarket divisions including King Soopers. In February of 1990, Don was named President of King Soopers. Don retired from King Soopers in April of 1998, remaining active in the industry serving as Director Emeritus of the Western Association of Food Chains.

Currently, Don is an in-demand speaker and consultant for business, organizations and school associations. Don's community activities included serving on the Board of Trustees of Regis High School and Regis University in Denver. He is a past Board member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and of the Colorado National Bank (now US Bank). Don currently serves on the Board of Directors of Kwik Trip Convenience Stores of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Don and Cheri, his wife of almost 50 years who is also a Denver native, enjoy spending time with their six children and 19 grandchildren. In addition, they have formed the Gallegos Family Charitable Foundation, the mission of which is to help the hungry, the homeless and inner city children.
